Donors appreciation night The Transplant Games are an event that helps raise awareness about organ donation cause. It is also an opportunity for transplant recipients to express their appreciation to donors’ families. An evening is planned in this direction during the games. This event is often done simultaneously during the opening ceremony and will take place at either the Église Saint-Roch or the Chapelle du Musée de l'Amérique française. The many events during the Games will raise awareness to the organ donation cause. Seminar, convention, conference Several educational, awareness-raising and informational event will take place in conjunction to the Canadian Transplant Games. An organ and tissue donations specialists’ seminar may take place. The aim is to regroup over 200 participants in this event and to give greater visibility to the cause. In the Athletes Village and on the competition sites, organ donation information kiosks will be set up. Thus, organizations such as Quebec Transplant and Héma-Québec will be present during the Games. Children activities On competition sites, activities to entertain children are planned. Clowns and balloons sculptures, mascots and make-up artists will add a touch of color. To this effect, we are recruiting day-care services student volunteers, or people with playground animation experience, to work with children. Caricaturists will be present on the sites to offer young and old a token of their visit. Other cultural activities Canadian Transplant Games participants will easily find entertainment in the Old Capital. The Old City of Quebec, the only fortified town in North America, abounds with restaurants and terraces open during summer season. Street entertainers are offering free performances all over town, surprising with their feats. In addition, a multitude of social activities are offered each summer for tourists. Our visitors will have the opportunity to discover Quebec’s many historical sites and to take part in the summer festivals.
Several evening activities will be held : - An evening cruise on the St. Lawrence River; - Crossing over to Levis for a walk on the bike path along our beautiful river or simply stop at its Terrace, known for the panoramic view it offers on the ramparts of Quebec and the Chateau Frontenac, illuminated at night; - Tours in both languages, at the Château Frontenac; - Visit Gatineau’s Balloon Festival , held annually from the first Wednesday to the first Sunday of August, at Saint-Jean-Chrysostome; - In addition, students from St. Lawrence College English have volunteered for the Games, and can act as tourist guides.
