Accommodations

For participants who wish to enjoy freedom and a festive atmosphere, we offer hotel packages as an alternative. Our experience with the 2008 Special Olympics Canada National Games Quebec has shown that this option was welcomed by both athletes and officials. They appreciated the packages made by the Organizing Committee and the comfort of staying in a hotel. Thus, as an alternative to life in residences, we suggest a stay at the Classique Hotel as well as at the des Gouverneurs Hotel, both located on Laurier Boulevard, less than five minutes away from the Université.

The Classique Hotel, which is a four stars establishment, offers a wide choice of rooms and suites. Comfortable, soundproofed, modern and spacious, they are functional and well-equipped. A bus stop right next to the hotel allows easy access to the campus and downtown.

The Gouverneur Hotel was a partner with MC2 Expérience stratégique for the the 2008 Special Olympics Canada National Games Québec. The Gouverneurs otel Chain has been affiliated to the Diane Hébert Fondation, which is an organization supporting the organ donation cause. We will offer athletes the opportunity to stay in their establishment during the Canadian Transplant Games.

During the 2010 Canadian Transplant Games, most sports activities will take place near the university campus. This is why hosting officials, athletes and attendants in the residences of the Université Laval seems to be the best option. The Ernest-Lemieux, Agathe-Lacerte and H.-Biermans-L.-Moraud halls can accommodate over 1,000 people. Two of these residence halls, the Ernest-Lemieux and H.-Biermans-L.-Moraud halls, are located right beside the Desjardins hall, which includes most campus services: a Desjardins banking facility, a convenience store, a book store, meeting rooms and a cafeteria able to welcome all the athletes and supporters.

The Université Laval campus covers 190 acres surrounded by the main urban roads of Sainte-Foy: Laurier Boulevard, Robert-Bourassa Highway and Myrand Avenue. The public transport system, which is easily reached by these roads, moves quickly and efficiently through Québec City. Buses from the Réseau de Transport de la Capitale (RTC) easily connects the Université Laval to downtown. The frequency of service varies slightly depending on the time of day. During rush hour, some buses run every five minutes, at other times, they run every 10 to 15 minutes. Thus, if desired, the athletes and their supporters can visitQuebec City as they wish and with ease.

In residences, each room is equipped with one or two single beds, depending on the desired occupation, a sink, a dresser, a wardrobe, a work table and a chair. The tenant has also a phone and local calls are free. Long distance calls are possible using a calling card. In every hall, bathrooms, washrooms and showers are available on each floor

In addition, the Ernest-Lemieux hall has thirty rooms equipped with full bathroom. These rooms are equipped with a double bed, in renovated units, or two single beds in non-renovated units. They are also equipped with various facilities: refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, TV, ironingboard, laundry iron, hairdryer, work table and Internet access. For families, four air-conditioned studios are available: they have a private bathroom and a well-equipped kitchenette.
