Games / Rules and Regulations / Bowling
Bowling 1- A bowling game is made up of ten frames. Players roll 2 balls for the first 9 frames, unless they achieve a strike. For the tenth frame, the player rolls 3 balls if a strike or a spare is achieved. Each bowler must fill all frames in the correct order. 2- A strike is achieved when all ten pins are knocked down on the first ball release. An “X” is then written in the top right corner if the current frame. The score for a strike is 10 points plus the number of pins knocked down by the player’s next two throws. 3- Two consecutive strikes are called a double. The score for the first strike is 20 points plus the amount of pins knocked down by the first throw following the second strike. 4- Three consecutive strikes are called a triple. The score for the first strike will be of 30 points. To get the maximum score, 300 points for one game, the player must achieve 12 consecutive strikes. 5- A spare is when the pins left standing after the first throw are knocked down by the second throw. The score is then marked by a diagonal strike (/) in the frame’s top right corner. The score for a spare is 10 points plus the number of pins knocked down by the player’s next throw. 6- An open occurs when the player fails to knock down all ten pins after two throws. 7- A split occurs when, after the first throw, several pins remain standing, the head pin is knocked down and: a) at least two pins have been knocked down; for example: 7-9 or 3-10. b) at least one of the front pins was knocked down and at least two pins are left standing; for example: 5- 6. A split is usually marked by a circle (O) around the first ball’s score but another symbol can be used. 8- The throw must be made before the lane’s foul line. 9- Player may bring their own bowling ball. 10- Players may wear gloves or a wrist protector to throw. 11- Player may use their own bowling shoes. |
